Battalion

• Battalion HQ
• Rifle Company x 3
• Sapper Platoon x 1
• Recon Platoon x 1
• Combat Support Company x 1

Note: the combat support company, consisting of a Company HQ (1 x Command Group) and six weapons platoons (each of 1 x 82mm Mortar with Mortar FO, 1 x HMG, and 1 x RPG or 57/75mm RCL) were generally allocated to the infantry companies for specific missions. Sometimes they were concentrated for maximum firepower effect. This arrangement allowed for considerable flexibility.

Rifle Company

• Recon Squad x 1

Note: a political cadre (commissar) can be attached to the Company HQ.
