Introduction to the Digital Library
Have you ever read books with references to obscure military documents and wished that you could study the originals for yourself? Or, alternatively, have you ever wanted to expand your Vietnam reference library with contemporary documents and publications rather than rely on the accounts of historians?
Well, hopefully, now you can. Over the course of the last several years, I have amassed a considerable number of documents relating to the Vietnam War and have decided to make them available to those who are interested.
- Each document is presented in either Adobe PDF format or as a ZIP file and therefore in order to view the documents you will require Adobe Acrobat Reader (minimum requirement is Version 5.0) and/or WINZIP.
- Please note that some of the documents are very large files and it is advisable to have appropriate 'download manager' software installed.
- The documents are available either individually (using the "Buy Now" link) or as a multiple purchase using the "Add to Cart" link). You can view and change the contents of your shopping cart at any time or go to the checkout by clicking on the "View Cart" link.
- Each document has been individually itemised. For a more comprehensive description of each document click on the "Tell me more" link accompanying each document description.
- Currently, documents can be only be purchased by using Paypal.
HOW IT WORKS
Below is a summary of how the process of delivering your digital documents works:
- Browse the Digital Document Library pages until you find a product or products that you would like to purchase.
- When you have found a document that you want, simply click the "Buy Now" button to purchase immediately or the "Add to Cart" button to add that item to your shopping cart for multiple purchases.
- Once you have finished adding items, click on "View Cart" button to Check Out and purchase the selected items.
- At check-out you will be prompted for your PayPal Username and Password. If you do not have a PayPal account, you will be given the opportunity to create one. This is a quick process, identical to what any e-commerce site will provide when selling goods online.
- After you have completed the payment process, you will immediately be sent an email that contains a link to download the product or products. The email will specify how long the link will remain active (generally this is 48 hours) and during this time you can download your digital document(s).
- The link itself is an encoded link that when clicked, prompts you with a download popup box asking to “Save” or “Open” the file. At this point you should click "Save" and specify a location in which to store the document. The document will then be downloaded and available to you.
