Welcome to Eleven-Bravo
You have landed at 'Eleven-Bravo', formerly and historically known as Grunt or Gruntonline.com, Eleven-Bravo is a Vietnam War site dedicated to the support and growth of wargaming the Vietnam War and to the distribution of historical material relating solely to that war.
I welcome contributions from visitors and, in particular, from Veterans of the Vietnam War. Many US and other Free World Veterans have already helped me considerably with individual contributions and I am always looking for more first-hand information about organisation, tactics, experiences and general information which cannot normally be found in books.
Information available here covers a wide-range of subjects including. but not limited to; the US Army, USMC (United States Marine Corps), OOBs (Order of battle), Tables of Organisatiion & Equipment (TO&E), US Brown Water Navy (riverine forces), military police, wargaming, the Vietcong (VC or 'Charlie') and the North Vietnamese Army (known as the NVA).

It doesn't matter whether your review is of a Fiction or Non-Fiction book. For my guidelines on submitting a book review see Book Reviews

Back to TopDid you have a link to Gruntonline?
If you had a link on your website to Gruntonline I would appreciate it if you could take the time to change the link details to point at this site. I built up a good number of links with you all out there and now, having lost the Gruntonline domain name, all those links are dead and doing none of us any good. Thanks.

"Are you a Veteran of the American War? Did you serve with the North Vietnamese Army or with the National Liberation Front?" Tell me more...
Back to TopWhy 'Eleven-Bravo'
My original website was called 'Grunt' or 'Gruntonline' but since I lost the domain name I have had to create a new domain. I wanted to keep the connection with the Grunts so I chose 'Eleven Bravo' as a replacement for 'Grunt'.
11B is the US Army MOS (Military Occupational Speciality) designation for a Rifle Infantryman. The number 11 is the branch code (Infantry) and the B represents rifleman.
In the Marine Corps (USMC) the equivalent is MOS 0311 (03 is infantry and 11 is rifleman)

Dust Off
Aero-medical evacuation came of age in Vietnam where Dust Off Helicopters came to be one of the most welcome sights to any wounded Grunt but often at great cost.
PACV (Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle)
The Quai Vat or "Monster" as the Viet Cong called it. The Patrol Air Cushion Vehicle was too loud for patrol and interdiction missions on the coastline and waterways. However, the PACV showed great prowess and capability in marshy terrain like the Plain of Reeds along the South Vietnamese and Cambodian border.

Village search techniques were developed during hundreds of such operations. The village search had to be thorough but carried out with caution. Here Australian infantry search a village.
