Facilities
Facilities represent the factories, installations & infrastructure of your Nation and form the basis of your economic and military power.
Each facility occupies a single hex on the strategic map and although new facilities can be built, there can never be more than one facility per hex.
Naturally, being so important, the construction and destruction of facilities forms an integral part of the game.
The following facilities are currently included in the game but players are free to come up with suggestions for new facilities;
Aircraft Factory
Aircraft factories manufacture aircraft for both your Air Force and for your Navy. They also produce the bombs, munitions and supplies necessary to sustain overseas airfields and to keep them operational.
- Aircraft Factories can be built, damaged and repaired.
- An Aircraft Factory has a defensive points value of 25,000pts.
Army Factory
Army factories produce Army Groups and Artillery units for your armies. They also produce the munitions, kit and sundry supplies necessary to sustain them operationally while overseas.
- Army factories can be built, damaged and repaired.
- An Army Factory has a defensive points value of 25,000pts.
Airfield
These are the land bases for your air force. The number of squadrons that can be stationed at an airfield is limited by the type of aircraft in the squadrons.
In order to remain operational, overseas airfields must be regularly supplied with bombs and munitions. Similarly, aircraft losses need to be regularly replaced if the squadrons are to remain combat effective.
- Airfields can be built, damaged and repaired.
- An Airfield has a defensive points value of 25,000pts.
Steelworks
Steelworks process imported Ore into steel that is used for a multitude of purposes within the game.
Each Homeland starts with a two Steelworks although more can be built. They can also be built on conquered islands although the steel these facilities produce must still be shipped to the Homeland for further distribution.
- Steelworks can be built, damaged and repaired.
- A Steelworks has a defensive points value of 20,000pts.
Ore Mine
Ore mines produce the raw material necessary to maufacture steel. Like Oil Wells, there are a finite number of Ore Mines.
Ore has to be shipped back to the Homeland in order to be processed into Steel.
- There are NO naturally occuring Ore Mines in the Homeland although it does produce a limited amount of steel each week (see Production).
- Ore Mines can be attacked, destroyed and repaired but can NEVER be built from scratch. Thus they are a finite resource in the campaign.
- An Ore Mine has a defensive points value of 20,000pts.
Oilwell
Oilwells produce the oil necessary to fuel your ships. However, raw oil needs to be processed into fuel before it can be used by ships and this takes place only in your Homeland.
- There are NO naturally occuring oil wells in the Homeland although it does produce a limited amount of fuel each week (see Production).
- Oilwells can be attacked, destroyed and repaired but can NEVER be built from scratch. Thus they are a finite resource in the campaign.
- An Oilwell has a defensive points value of 15,000pts.
Shipyard
Shipyards are where your new ships are built and your damaged ships are repaired.
Ships are built and repaired based upon their tonnage and the amount of belt armour they carry as well as the productivity of the shipyard.
- Shipyards can be built, damaged and repaired.
- A Shipyard has a defensive points value of 25,000pts.
Port
A Port is a facility located on the coast and containing one or more docks where ships can weigh-anchor and be replenished or where they can collect or unload cargo to or from land.
Surrounded by storage yards and wharehousing, Ports can also act as supply depots and stockpiles from which Army Units and Airfields can draw their supplies and merchantmen and oilers can collect or unload their cargos.
One of their primary purposes is to act as the forming-up point for convoys and task forces.
- Ports, or more specifically the Docks within a Port, can be built, damaged and repaired.
- A Port has a variable defensive points value equal to the total points of all docks contained within the Port itself.
