Combat

In a campaign of "expansion and naked aggression" it is not unreasonable to expect a good deal of combat between opossing Forces and there is, in fact, plenty of it by land, sea and air.

Land combat and air combat take place on the strategic map in a manner that is typically associated with board wargames; counters are moved across the strategic map, attack other counters, the attacks are resolved and the counters that survive are then returned, mostly to their place of origin.

Designed primarily as a Naval campaign, Imperialism handles combat at sea between ships slightly differently.

All Naval combat takes place on a tactical map, still using counters, but handled more like a table-top wargame than a traditional board wargame.
