Michael Ruffle - The only Vietname Vet not to serve in the war!
It is with incredible sadness that I inform you that my dad died suddenly on the 18th of October 2011. He devoted a large part of his life to gaining an understanding of the Vietnam War, he loved discussing the war with those who served their country and those that played wargames relating to the war. My dad was and will always be deeply loved by us and I intend to keep this site active as a tribute to the thousands of hours of effort, research and hard work he put into this site. Please feel free to leave messages on the guestbook. Thank you, John-Paul (eldest son)
Welcome to Eleven-Bravo
You've landed at 'Eleven-Bravo', formerly and historically known as Grunt or Gruntonline.com, Eleven-Bravo is a Vietnam War site dedicated to the support and growth of wargaming the Vietnam War and to the distribution of historical material relating solely to that war.
I welcome contributions from visitors and, in particular, from Veterans of the Vietnam War. Many US and other Free World Veterans have already helped me considerably with individual contributions and I am always looking for more first-hand information about organisation, tactics, experiences and general information which cannot normally be found in books.
Information available here covers a wide-range of subjects including. but not limited to; the US Army, USMC (United States Marine Corps), OOBs (Order of battle), Tables of Organisatiion & Equipment (TO&E), US Brown Water Navy (riverine forces), military police, wargaming, the Vietcong (VC or 'Charlie') and the North Vietnamese Army (known as the NVA).
Back to TopBig Changes Ahead for Eleven-Bravo
It is my intention to return to working on this site but I intend to make some significant changes.
With so many pages, the site has become unwieldy and difficult to manage, so I have decided to remove ALL the wargaming pages and leave only the documents and articles relating to the War itself.
However, the wargaming material is also moving to a new location that will be specifically devoted to the wargaming aspect of Vietnam.
This will be covered by my new site, Broken Arrow - Wargaming in the Mountains, Jungles and Deltas of South Vietnam, 1965-1975. This is solely for Vietnam wargaming and will contain no historical / contemporary documents or articles.

"Are you a Veteran of the American War? Did you serve with the North Vietnamese Army or with the National Liberation Front?" Tell me more...
Back to TopWhy 'Eleven-Bravo'
My original website was called 'Grunt' or 'Gruntonline' but since I lost the domain name I have had to create a new domain. I wanted to keep the connection with the Grunts so I chose 'Eleven Bravo' as a replacement for 'Grunt'.
11B is the US Army MOS (Military Occupational Speciality) designation for a Rifle Infantryman. The number 11 is the branch code (Infantry) and the B represents rifleman.
In the Marine Corps (USMC) the equivalent is MOS 0311 (03 is infantry and 11 is rifleman)

Read a Good Vietnam Book Lately?
Have you read an interesting and informative book about the Vietnam War recently? If so, then how about submitting a review for inclusion here so that other people interested in the subject can gat an idea about it before purchasing for themselves?
It doesn't matter whether your review is of a Fiction or Non-Fiction book. For my guidelines on submitting a book review see Book Reviews
Did you have a link to Gruntonline?
If you had a link on your website to Gruntonline I would appreciate it if you could take the time to change the link details to point at this site. I built up a good number of links with you all out there and now, having lost the Gruntonline domain name, all those links are dead and doing none of us any good. Thanks.
